Worker killed in construction accident

A tragic work mishap at the demolition site of the former Gap Warehouse on Merritt Boulevard took the life of a 58-year-old excavator operator on Saturday.

The worker was operating an excavator at the demolition area when a portion of a steel beam pierced through the construction equipment he was operating. At 2:38 p.m., the Village of Fishkill Fire and Police department responded to the scene only to pronounce the worker dead.

The victim was later identified as 58-year-old James Parisella, a resident of Florida. Authorities reported that Parisella was employed by Environmental Remediation Services Inc. of Syracuse that has been demolishing and rebuilding the site since November of last year.

Our staff at Hach & Rose, LLP would like to express our deepest condolences to the family of James Parisella.
