Construction site accident causes death and injury
A building under construction in Miami was the site of several injuries and one fatality on October 26th.
Miami Fire Rescue officials said that due to a structural collapse at the Echo Brickell Building, debris flew across the road and severely damaged a parked car. Spliced woods and other building materials were still hanging on the upper floor. People who witnessed the incident rushed to rescue a woman hit by flying debris while in the driver’s seat of a car.
A 50-year-old man had a heart attack after running away from the construction accident site and later died. Another five people, including two construction workers, were injured. One construction worker, Quincy Williams, was at the job site wearing a helmet but still suffered a laceration to his head from falling debris.
Property Markets Group, the developer of Echo Brickell, released a statement expressing their sadness and condolences for the victims and their families. The site has been secured and is currently under inspection.
