What is Section 200 of New York’s Labor Law?
Section 200 of the New York labor code applies to construction industry employers who are responsible for construction sites or any other projects where hazardous situations may arise. Under Section 200, the responsible party is obligated to take reasonable steps to rectify potentially dangerous conditions of which they are aware or should be aware. If the employer fails in this important duty, he or she can be held liable should an injury occur due to the unsafe conditions.
