New York construction worker fell to their death
A tragic work accident took the life of a 30-year-old construction worker on 152 East 87th St. near Lexington Avenue, Friday morning, December 23.
At around 9:20 a.m., the man was working on the third floor of the building when, for yet unknown reasons, he fell down to the basement. According to the report, the impact left the victim with serious head injuries. He was rushed to Lenox Hill Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, despite attempts at life-saving measures, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The worker was identified as Mahamoudon Marega. He was a resident in The Bronx and was employed by Highbury Construction.
The Department of Building (DOB) issued a full-stop work order at the construction site following the incident. Preliminary investigation shows that the case does not appear to be elevator related.
The cause of the accident is yet to be determined, as the investigation is still in progress.
