A construction accident involving a roof demolition at the work site of a Midtown office building left two workers injured on July 24, according to the Wall Street Journal. New York Firefighters reached the scene at around 10:15 a.m. A spokesperson for Tishman Construction stated the injured workers were taken to Bellevue Hospital and were expected to be released within the day.
The two injured workers were employed by Waldorf Demolition. The demolition company has a history of injuries on the job site. In April, four workers were injured while removing a chandelier when the banister and chandelier fell on the workers.
The property at 317 Madison is one construction site out of many scheduled for demolition in order to make way for the 65-story tower called One Vanderbilt. The incident is still being investigated in order to determine the case of the partial ceiling collapse.
