Early this morning, a Seastreak ferry carrying hundreds of passengers from New Jersey to New York City’s Pier 11 crashed into a dock, causing at least 50 people to be injured, one of whom is receiving critical care.
Although the exact cause of the accident is not yet known, some passengers describe feeling “a large jolt” that threw many passengers into the air. As a result of this crash, many people have been seen with head injuries or being taking to hospitals in ambulances on stretchers.
As of 11 a.m. Wednesday morning, it appears as if all those injured have been removed from the ferry. However, emergency crews are currently still on the scene, tending to passengers and all those injured in the accident, and the National Transportation Board is looking into the accident.
