In September, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the National Safety Council’s (NCS) Safety+Health magazine unveiled the top ten most frequently cited standards by the OSHA for the fiscal year of 2014.
This year’s entries were the same as last year. Fall protection (6,143 violations), hazard communication (5,161), scaffolding (4,029), and respiratory protection (3,223) remained the top four most frequently violated safety standards, while the remaining entries were lockout (2,704), powered industrial trucks (2,662), electrical, wiring methods (2,490), ladders (2,448), machine guarding (2,200), electrical, and general requirements (2,056).
The list was announced by Deputy director of OSHA’s Directorate of Enforcement Programs Patrick Kapust and senior associate editor for the NSC’s Safety+Health magazine Kyle Morrison during the NSC’s 2014 Congress and Expo at the San Diego Convention Center.
